Metro Vancouver – Regional Planning & Agriculture Committee, Oct 3

Metro Vancouver Board

This committee meeting is set for October 3. We copy the agenda below for reference. Click here to download (18.8 MB). All Metro meetings are available here.

Citizens in every municipality should call upon November civic election candidates for important democratic reforms of Metro Vancouver. It hides from public accountability despite its influence and billion dollar budget. Much of Metro’s business is conducted at these committee meetings, which are not broadcast on web video. Board meetings are webcast (but not archived), but largely just accept and adopt reports from the committees. Recently, the Board meetings close to the public within minutes of beginning, and remain so til the end. If candidates want to get (re)elected as Mayors and Councillors in each municipality, they should declare that they will work to reform Metro Vancouver to make it more accountable. Web video of ALL committee meetings, and web video archiving of Board meetings would be a good start.
