CityHallWatch: Tools to engage in Vancouver city decisions

The application of real-time computer graphics has increased by leaps and bounds over the last 25 years. Have you ever wondered why we don’t use this technology in Vancouver City Hall more? How is the technology applied? What are the some of the possibilities? Does the City already have such models? (The answer is yes.) Does the City use the models for consultation? (Answer is no.) Should the City use them for current planning processes in three neighbourhoods? (Yes!) Who paid for them? (You did, taxpayers!) Is 3D modelling possible for all municipalities in Metro Vancouver? Perhaps yes.

Development proposals are currently shown using traditional drawings that often include plans, sections, elevations, as well as a few perspectives and a physical model.
