Minister Chong directs non-binding arbitration to begin by May 16, all parties may participate

The Metro Vancouver website indicates that Ida Chong, the Minister of Community, Sport and Cultural Development, has directed Metro Vancouver and Coquitlam to begin a non-binding resolution process by May 16, 2011. All Affected Local Governments can participate in the non-binding resolution process if they so choose. The term is expected to be 60 days.

MetroVanWatch urges citizens and all elected officials in this region (not just the Metro Van board members) to watch this process. Coquitlam has raised valid concerns (Coquitlam rejection of RGS 22-Mar-2011) that have not been adequately addressed through process of public consultation and negotiation and adoption of the RGS bylaw.
